Modeling and Analysis of Defective Ground Structures Based on a Combination of Unit Cells of Simpler Structures

n the report, modeling and analysis of the defective grounding structure (DGS) were carried out as part of the work to reduce coupling for the developed models of complex structures based on simpler DGS. A 2x2 microstrip antenna array with multiple inputs and outputs (MIMO) has been introduced into the model improving the isolation of antenna emitters. Graphs of the values of the S-parameters, the diversity gain (DG) of the MIMO antenna arrays, and the envelope correlation coefficients of the antenna arrays (ECC), mean effective gain (MEG), channel capacity loss (CCL) and Total Active Reflection Coefficient (TARC) are obtained. As a result, a decrease in the mutual coupling of antenna elements was obtained while maintaining the compactness of the antenna system. A quantitative analysis was carried out, recommendations were formed, and an algorithm for further refinement of these structures was outlined.
