Scalable Remote Laboratory for Electronics

Conducting practical experiments in a laboratory setting is a cornerstone of education in engineering and scientific disciplines. However, remote laboratories have emerged as a vital resource for universities, offering several advantages such as accessibility from any location, reduced costs and maintenance, resource sharing, and enabling all students to utilize available equipment. This paper presents the design and implementation of a cost-effective remote electronics laboratory aimed at enabling students to perform electronic experiments remotely while observing real-time measurements from instruments. The developed system integrates an Arduino-based circuit, a relay matrix, essential experimental components, power supplies, and measuring instruments. Two user interfaces, created using LabVIEW—one for students and another for teachers/technicians—serve as the primary interaction platforms, while a central computer acts as the server. The laboratory supports foundational electronic experiments, including Ohm's law, current and voltage dividers, half-wave rectifiers, and Kirchhoff's laws. Thanks to its scalability and flexibility, the system can accommodate additional experiments as needed.
