Sound level monitoring System using Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar

This paper presents a system that generates alert alarms for excessive speaker audio levels in a specific area, utilizing a radar system integrated with Matlab. The need for this project arises due to the limitations forced by the traditional methods. Conventional noise measurement methods often lack precision, real-time capabilities, and the ability to distinguish between sources. Fixed sensors and susceptibility to environmental factors further restrict their effectiveness. The FMCW Radar Integrated monitoring System addresses these limitations, offering advanced, adaptable noise monitoring with enhanced accuracy and real-time responsiveness. The RF -ST-100 hardware unit with RF beam viewer and Matlab is used in this work. The flow of the project is to observe a speaker under RF ST-100 hardware unit. Then this observation is recorded as a wav or mp3 file format using RF Beam viewer software. Later, this file is analyzed using Matlab to determine the specifications of speaker audio particularly amplitude of the audio. For analyzing the system, a threshold value is set; Whenever, the speaker audio exceeds the threshold value, an alert message will be displayed in the computer.
