Control System Design of a Fixed wing VTOL UAV

This research describes the design, simulation, and control system development of a novel fixed-wing tilt-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with thrust vectoring capabilities. By unique blending of fixed-wing and tilt-rotor configurations, it is possible to achieve superior flying qualities. The optimized design based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, was developed in SOLIDWORKS. The aerodynamic performance of the wing and propeller were analyzed for optimal flight characteristics. The fabrication method of UAVs includes 3D-printed PLA and carbon fiber tubes. A commercial flight controller named Speedy Bee F405 fixed wing with STM32 microcontroller chip was used for UAV’s flight dynamics. This research contributes to the advancement of efficient and versatile UAV technology which has the potential for various applications, including surveillance, cargo delivery, and precision agriculture.
