Performance Analysis of Diversity Scheme using Equal Gain Combining in Dual-Branch Multicast Network

One of the diversity-combining strategies, equal gain combining (EGC) is used in wireless communication systems with multiple antennas to improve the reliability of signal reception in the presence of fading and noise and helps to reduce the likelihood of deep fades in the combined signal, resulting in more consistent signal quality. Traditional multicasting over wireless channels is a difficult issue these days because traditional frameworks are inadequate to ensure the confidentiality of transmitted sensitive information. This paper investigates the use of EGC to strengthen multicast security. As performance measures, the closed-form expressions for Ergodic Secrecy Multicast Capacity (ESMC) and Intercept Probability for Multicasting (IPM) are derived to show that security improves with stronger fading, more destination users nearby of destination, and is adversely affected by increased signal correlation, the position of eavesdropper within shorter distance from the source and a higher number of eavesdroppers.
