Implementation and Evaluation of Location-Based P2P System Using Geohash

In recent years, location-based services (LBS) have become increasingly prevalent. To facilitate direct communication between nearby devices using location information, a method called G-LocON (Geo-location Oriented Network) has been proposed. However, as the number of devices increases, server performance degradation becomes a significant issue. To address this, load balancing methods that employ additional servers have been proposed. Despite its advantages, this approach requires clear specifications for server configuration and management. Moreover, enabling collaboration among multiple servers is essential for scalability. This study proposes a server expansion and management method utilizing Geohash, a technique that converts location information into strings. Additionally, an implementation of G-LocON incorporating Geohash was developed, and its proper operation was successfully validated through experiments.
