Analyzing Electrical Characteristics of Semiconductor Devices Using Raspberry PI and Python

Characterizing three-terminal semiconductor devices is critical for optimizing analog circuit designs and enhancing system performance. The system is developed for an economical, portable, and efficient system for accurate electrical measurements of semiconductor devices. The system is controlled using the Python software for high-level control that communicate with the Raspberry Pi for intermediary data processing, and an Arduino Nano for precise hardware interfacing that in turn control the AD5761 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for voltage control and an INA219 high-side shunt resistor for Measuring the current through a device under test (DUT). The system facilitates real-time acquisition of device characteristics and plots I-V curves for detailed analysis. Additionally, the system serves as a pretest kit for evaluating the electrical behavior of semiconductor devices before their integration into larger circuits. The proposed approach demonstrates significant improvements in cost, size, and portability while ensuring high measurement accuracy.
