Assistive Lower Limb Exoskeletons for Elderly Patients: FEA-Based Design and Performance Optimization

The increasing demand for exoskeletons in medical rehabilitation, fuelled by factors like musculoskeletal conditions, spinal injuries, and defense-related applications., prompts this research to introduce a novel exoskeleton design. A comprehensive analysis, encompassing strength , is conducted on the developed exoskeleton model A three dimensional representation of the proposed exoskeleton for lower limp is developed, with adjustments to hip, knee, and ankle joint angles for specific scenarios such as sit-to-full-stand transitions and walking. Stress analysis is also performed, comparing carbon fiber and structural steel materials under various load conditions. The simulation identifies critical stress points, notably 2.5 cm above the ankle, indicating a potential risk of fracture.
