Floating Algae Harvester

This paper presents an unmanned algal collector that floats on the surface of the water bodies and collects the unwanted blooms. The presence of harmful algal bloom in the waterbody is disrupting the entire ecosystem from aquatic plants to animals and even terrestrial animals through food chain. The exploitation of the freshwater system by the rapid industrialization process is the main reason for the early bloom of these algal species. Due to the release of effluents containing chemicals like Nitrogen and Phosphorus leads to eutrophication. This paper also describes the effects of algal bloom, the reason for its removal and the most suitable way to remove it using a floating bot. The vehicle is built using 3 DC motors, two of which are connected to the wheels of the vehicle and one to the conveyor belt guiding mechanism. It can be powered through a solar panel. This floating vehicle saves the respective freshwater ecosystem from collapsing.
