Diabetic Socks for Foot Ulcer Prediction and Monitoring

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are a serious complication for diabetics, often leading to amputation. Early detection and prevention are crucial. This project explores new technologies that may improve diabetic foot care. The proposed method developing integrated smart socks insoles equipped with sensors to monitor sensitivity, temperature, and blood pressure levels in the feet. These sensors can warn of potential problems before ulcers form and develop. Real time monitoring of foot leads enhanced foot care and the output is shown in smart phone wirelessly. Studies have shown promise for these new technologies. For instance, smart socks monitoring foot temperature may aid in early ulcer detection. Likewise, studies suggest regular temperature monitoring and sensitivity measurement can help prevent ulcers in high-risk diabetics.
