Workspace Analysis of an 8-UPS Parallel Robot

To meet the production requirements of automated tasks in large-scale workspaces, a concept of an industrial robot designed for processing large components (such as wing riveting) and large workspaces is proposed, i.e. the 8-UPS parallel robot. The overall structure and branch configuration of the 8-UPS parallel robot are introduced. Using a three-dimensional search method, the workspace of the parallel mechanism under machining conditions is solved with MATLAB. The impact of rod length on the workspace is analyzed through attitude workspace studies.
