Conductive Gel Flexible Sensor and its Application in Concrete Health Monitoring

In this paper, an embedded flexible sensor made of conductive gel as sensor, conductive medium and epoxy resin as intelligent aggregate packaging material is designed for concrete damage detection. Properties of concrete and conductive gel sensor are tested by Abaqus finite element simulation to explore the deformation and cracking of concrete under pressure. Influence of number and embedding position of sensors in concrete blocks on stress cracking of concrete is analyzed, and best position for placing sensors in concrete is found, so as to effectively monitor health of concrete without affecting ultimate stress of concrete. Simulation results provide a basis for concrete health monitoring test.
