Optimization of Equalizing Ring Attachment Angle Based on COMSOL Simulation

The evolution of ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission technologies has rendered difficulties such as electric field distortion and corona discharge increasingly significant. Contemporary research primarily emphasizes the dimensional attributes of voltage equalizing rings, although little attention has been directed into the impact of the attachment angle of these rings on electric field modulation. This research employs COMSOL Multiphysics simulations to investigate the influence of the attachment angle of the voltage equalizing ring on the electric field distribution along a 500 kV transmission line. The findings indicate that an ideal attachment angle of 50° to 60° markedly decreases the electric field intensity adjacent to the insulator edges, offering critical insights for the construction of high-voltage transmission lines.
