Analyzing Gender-Based Satisfaction Disparities in Online Learning: A Quantitative Survey in GCC Nations

Global educational organizations have embraced e-learning because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although instructors and students have found difficulties with this move to online learning (OL), it has also encouraged creative teaching strategies. This study examines college students’ perspectives of OL, with a particular emphasis on gender inequalities in their experiences. Information from many college students in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries who underwent OL during the outbreak was obtained through a quantitative survey. Focusing on how these aspects differ between male and female students, the survey asked questions on satisfaction with OL and particular elements like course material delivery, interacting with educators, behavioral shifts, and obstacles with OL. A statistical comparison was conducted between the OL experiences of male and female students. The findings indicate that male students exhibit greater satisfaction than female learners. Students encountered difficulties with internet connectivity, online learning adaptation, concentration, and workload during OL. Comprehending such gender gaps in OL satisfaction among learners is essential for instructors and organizations aiming to enhance the efficacy of e-learning practices. This study corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) about gender equality (SDG 5) and quality education (SDG 4), examining gender disparities in OL experiences among learners across the GCC countries. The findings illustrate the distinct requirements of each gender in OL, giving direction for more fair and successful educational initiatives in the GCC area, therefore advancing the worldwide objectives of equal opportunity as well as inclusive education.
