Marathi Language Query Interface (MLQI) for GIS database using OpenAI

This paper mainly focuses on the implementation of Marathi Language Query Interface (MLQI) for a Geographical Information System (GIS) based database system. In this paper, we discuss the approach used by us for the conversion of Natural Language Spatial Queries in Marathi to Structured Queries. A set of GIS queries are collected initially by using a survey form. These queries are primarily categorized into 4 relevant categories viz. distance, direction, location and shortest path. The OpenAI technology is applied to develop a model that accepts the Marathi NLQs and converts into a structured query in the appropriate syntax. These structure queries are as executed by the system to produce the resultant information. Visualization Routing information is performed through maps.
