A Circular Antenna Array for Rotationally Invariant and Bidirectional Transmission in the Near-Field

In this paper, a concept for a monostatic antenna array for rotation invariant transmission in the near-field is presented. The rotational invariance of the antenna is realized by a circular array, whereby the antenna elements are fed in a radial or tangential direction around a common rotation axis. By feeding each antenna element orthogonally, the concept can be extended to a monostatic antenna, which allows it to be used in applications for wireless full-duplex data transmission. The concept is evaluated using 3D electromagnetic simulation.
