Forecasting Hydroelectric Production in Nepal Using Knime Analytics

Hydropower is a major energy source in Nepal. It contributes to more than 90% of the total national electricity grid. However, production is highly influenced by weather patterns and seasonality. Accurate forecasting of hydroelectric production helps ensure reliable energy supply and proper management. In this work, the KoNstanz Information MinEr (KNIME) Analytics Platform is used to develop a predictable model for energy generation in Nepal. Historical data from 2011-12 to 2023-24 has been pre-processed, analyzed, and modeled by regressive learning models such as SARIMAX using KNIME's data processing capabilities. Our findings illustrate the production of hydroelectric power up to the year 2030 with a high accuracy of 82.5%.
