Integrated Wearable Smart Band and Autonomous Mobile Robot for Elderly Care

As the elderly population grows, new systems are required for consistent monitoring and rapid emergency response at home. This paper presents Personal Autonomous Companion for Elderly Care (PACE), a combination of a wearable smart band and an autonomous mobile robot, designed to enhance safety and assistance for seniors. The band, which features sensors such as an accelerometer, gyroscope, heart rate monitor, and SOS button, identifies issues such as falls or abnormal heart rates and connects with the robot using socket protocols. The robot then traces the user using LiDAR and Received Signal strength Identification(RSSI) positioning technique while avoiding obstacles. The robot is equipped with GPT integration to communicate with the elderly person. If unresponsive, it alerts the caregivers using SOS messages and live streaming. This system offers a practical, efficient, and user-focused solution for elderly care. It also offers automated reminders of medications and delivery. This system provides an effective and user-centric approach to elderly care.
