Design of a Compact T/R Module for an All-Digital S-Band Phased Array Radar System

This work presents the design of a digital T/R module for an all-digital phased array radar operating in the S-Band. The module's transmitter, built using GaN technology, delivers an output power of 10W. The receiver chain provides a gain of 33 dB and maintains a low noise figure of 3 dB. The module is designed with a highly compact form factor, integrating the biasing, control circuitry, and a mechanical layer that provides structural support and efficient thermal management. The proposed TR module has a dimensions 46 mm × 38 mm. With a compact size and modular design, multiple such modules can be integrated together for the realization an all-digital radar in S-Band.
