Preparation of Fluorine-Free, Transparent, Hydrophobic Coatings as Protectors for Electronic Packaging

Transparent hydrophobic coatings can be used as a protective layer in electronic packaging. Herein, we report rapid processes to prepare hydrophobic coatings without using fluorine-containing compounds. The wettability and stability of the samples prepared by different methods were measured. The sample with the highest hydrophobicity in this study showed a water contact angle of 122^º and visible-light transmittance of 82%.
