A Broad-Band All Textile Based Absorber Using Carbon Ink

In this paper the authors have proposed a novel way to achieve broadband absorption (0.8-24 GHz) using very high resistive carbon ink on polyester fabric. The carbon ink sheet resistance given in Ω/sq/mil is optimized (400 Ω/sq/mil) to give the reflection coefficient $(S_{11})$ less than -10 dB throughout the band. The pattern is made on polyester fabric due to lower loss tangent $(\tan\delta=0.0045)$. The design is fabricated on polyester, giving it a conformal nature. Due to the four fold symmetric of the structure, the absorption is polarization insenstive and also the absorption bandwidth is maintained for incident angle ≤ 45°. The absorption bandwidth is compared with the previously reported work, thus showing higher bandwidth.
