Grid Integrated PV Based EV Charging Station

This paper presents a new control approach for a three-phase, grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) array and battery energy storage system (BESS) interface for an electric vehicle (EV) charging station. During daytime, the PV array and BESS charge the EV, while the grid supplies power if PV output is unavailable. The model’s primary goal is to stabilize grid active power under all conditions. The battery’s charging and discharging functions balance power to meet EV demand. The voltage source converter (VSC) serves as an active power filter, reducing harmonics on the AC side. The control system is responsive, adaptable, and operates smoothly under varying conditions such as PV or BES disconnection and constant grid power mode.
