Model Predictive Power Control for High-Frequency Link Matrix Converter With Phase Compensation Method

High-frequency link matrix converter (HFLMC) is suitable for the battery testing instrument due to the characteristics of high efficiency and high reliability. However, the battery power testing requires fast dynamic response of the control system to simulate the states of the battery in the starting, climbing, braking, and other conditions of the electric vehicles. Therefore, this article proposes a model predictive power control strategy with phase compensation method for the HFLMC to conduct the battery power testing. First, the discrete-time model is established, which can predict the future states of the system. Second, the online adjustment method is adopted to adjust the modulation ratio according to the operating states of the system. Third, the cost function is derived, which can select the optimal modulation ratio. Finally, the phase compensation method is presented, which can achieve the unit power factor without using extra controllers. Experimental results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.
