Iterative Capon Estimation for Saturated Forward Jamming Suppression with MIMO Radar

We discuss the iterative Capon estimation (ICE) method for saturated forward jamming suppression with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar in this paper. The amplitude envelope of MIMO angular return echo is different from the jamming signal in a saturated mode. The ICE in this paper utilizes the Capon estimation initialization algorithm. The algorithm estimates amplitude and phase estimations of both the jamming signal and the real echo along range within a single snapshot, exploiting the waveform differences. And it uses eclipsing repair to estimate parameters in the eclipsed region. The simulation results prove that the ICE method can effectively suppress the forward jamming signal and identify the real target.
