Improved Social Spider Algorithm Tuned SSSC Controller for Power System Stability Improvement

Large interconnected power system faces a disturbance due to occurrence of oscillation with low frequency in structure. These oscillations occurred due to changes in load, frequency, reactive power and Active power. The stability is improved by using FACTS controllers and compared with conventional power system stabilizer. The FACTS controllers are used to avoid oscillations and distortions occurred in system. Parameters are controlled by tunning the variables of Improved Social Spider Algorithm. The controller damping is performed by using proposed Social Spider Algorithm contrasted with conventional Social Spider Algorithm and Conventional power System Stabilizer. Simulations are done by using MATLAB software tool, with speed deviation, reactive power, rotor angle and injected voltage from SSSC. Results provide that series synchronous compensator (SSSC) has better damping in multimachine system that improves stability of the system.
