An Investigation into Electromagnetic Performance in Novel Reverse-salient Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

To solve the problem of the small weak magnetic field range of traditional permanent magnet synchronous motors, a new type of reverse-salient permanent magnet synchronous motor (RSPMSM) is proposed. The direct-axis inductance is greater than the quadrature-axis inductance, so it can obtain a wide speed regulation range. The performance of RSPMSM is analyzed by finite element method and the advantages and disadvantages of two slot-type RSPMSMs are listed by comparative analysis.
