Temperature Field Simulation of A Six-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor With Stator Water-Cooling Pipe Structure

The effective heat dissipation structure is very critical for large power multiphase permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) driving. In this paper, a water-cooling pipe structure placed in the stator core yoke of a six-phase PMSM is adopted. To accurately analyze the cooling effect of the pipe structure, the multi-physics coupling method is used to calculate the temperature field. Firstly, the impact of the stator pipe structure on the electromagnetic performance is analyzed, and the copper and iron losses are calculated. Secondly, a three-dimensional fluid-solid coupling simulation model is established for the calculation of fluid and temperature field. Temperature distribution of the six-phase PMSM is analyzed. Finally, experimental verification is conducted to confirm the effectiveness of the stator water-cooling pipe structure.
