Simulation and Analysis of Different Edge Detection Methods Applying MATLAB Simulink

Identifying edges is a crucial foundational step in many image processing techniques, including those applied to tasks like image enhancement, segmentation, object tracking, and video or image compression. It plays a vital role across various stages of image analysis and object detection. Edge detection focuses on pinpointing and identifying abrupt changes in an image, which usually correspond to notable variations in pixel intensity, thereby delineating the contours of objects within the scene. In general used edge detection methodologies consists of Sobel, Roberts, Prewitt, and the Laplacian of Gaussian. This study introduces a MATLAB/Simulink framework for implementing these methods and provides a detailed comparison of their simulation outcomes.
