Review of Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems: Topology, Power Allocation, and SOC Estimation

As increasement of the clean energy capacity, lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (BESS) play a crucial role in addressing the volatility of renewable energy sources. However, the efficient operation of these systems relies on optimized system topology, effective power allocation strategies, and accurate state of charge (SOC) estimation. This review aims to clarify the current state of these key technologies and provide a theoretical foundation for enhancing the reliability of energy storage systems. The paper summarizes the topology and power allocation strategies of lithium-ion BESS and reviews various SOC estimation models and methods.
