Estimation of Power Supply Induced Jitter in Push-Pull Drivers in MIPI C-PHY

The Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) C-PHY signaling scheme effectively enhances data transmission efficiency over communication channels. However, the continuous miniaturization of MOS transistors has significantly reduced the noise margin, making circuits more susceptible to noise and variability. Any noise source and variability issues in the circuit may influence the decoding of data due to changes in the polarity of the signal at the receiver end. According to MIPI C-PHY standard, a significant timing budget is reserved for jitter. Therefore, it is worth to perform a comprehensive analysis of the jitter at the output of drivers in the presence of noise. This paper presents an analytical approach for jitter estimation at the output of the push-pull driver used in MIPI C-PHY. The results obtained from the proposed approach are validated by comparing them with the results obtained from the SPICE simulation.
