Integrated sensing and communication toward 6G: research progress and trends

The integration of sensing and communication(ISAC) has become one the potential key technologies of the sixth generation mobile communications system(6G) which realizes the coordination between communication and sensing functions based on software and hardware resource sharing or information sharing. This paper reviews part of the litterateurs on ISAC, summarizes the research achievements in the key research directions of performance metric, waveform design, Multi-Input Multi-Output(MIMO), and finally analyzes the future development tendencies and challenge of ISAC.
