Co-ordinate Measurement Machine Using Computer Vision

Over the past 20 years, contactless measuring system application has grown significantly, especially in the area of coordinate measurement. The growing use of these systems in industry has increased interest in determining their correctness, particularly in research facilities. Fiducial markers are a promising development in contactless measurements, especially in dimensional metrology. In order to obtain accurate detection and measurement of the distance between circular objects, this research provides a sophisticated coordinate measuring system that uses ArUco markers and OpenCV. In order to ensure accurate measurements, it is imperative that the ArUco markers are used to confirm that objects are positioned correctly within the Region of Interest (ROI) and to maintain a constant distance. After this preliminary check, the system incorporates an Excel interface that is easy to use, enabling users to choose circles by hand using their x and y coordinates. Users can choose which circles to measure by selecting ’y’ for yes or ’n’ for no. The system will then determine the distance between the circles automatically. By combining the accuracy of automatic detection with the adaptability of manual selection, this method creates a measurement process that is both highly precise and flexible. The system’s usefulness for applications requiring precise spatial measurements across multiple sectors has been proven by comparing its performance with conventional manual approaches.
