Luo Converter- based BLDC Motor Driven Industrial Application

This article discusses the problem of effectively employing a solar photovoltaic array for a water pumping system, with an emphasis on motor control and optimal power extraction. With the permanent magnet BLDC motor powering the centrifugal water pump, the intermediate DC-DC converter is integrated as a Luo converter. The Luo converter was selected for this investigation due to its simplicity, low component count, ability to minimize output current ripples, and provision of an unbounded zone for maximum power point tracking (MPPT). When a voltage source inverter VSI operates on fundamental frequency switching, an electrically commutated BLDC motor reduces high frequency switching losses and increases system efficiency. Under typical test conditions, the SPV array is intended to supply power to the motor-pump system while optimizing converter performance. MATLAB/Simulink simulation results show the system's effectiveness and suitability for many scenarios, including startup and dynamic and steady-state behaviour.
