Contingency Ranking and Analysis of Bhutan Network using Performance Index: Case Studies

Contingency ranking and analysis are essential tasks for system operators to ensure efficient power system operations and to maintain reliability. Through this process, operators can identify critical elements within the system whose failure could result in significant consequences, including potential blackouts in the worst-case scenario. In this paper, a single contingency ranking was conducted to determine the most critical components of Bhutan’s power system, followed by an analysis of the potential impacts of their outages. Based on the findings, appropriate solutions to mitigate the risk of blackouts are recommended.
