5G Commercial Signal Based Positioning Method For High-speed Railway Beam Tracking

Reconfiguring Intelligent Surface (RIS) technology has attracted widespread attention from both academia and industry due to its ability to flexibly manipulate the electromagnetic characteristics of channel environments, and its integration with vertical industries has always been a research hotspot. The communication under high-speed train (HST) has complex characteristics such as scene diversity and fast mobility, especially when obstacles next to the railway block the communication line-of-sight (LoS) link, resulting in poor communication quality. This article proposes an intelligent metasurface beam tracking scheme based on 5G uplink channel reference signal angle positioning, and designs corresponding modules and system platforms. The scheme architecture includes RIS beam tracking module, RIS beamforming module, and 5G uplink signal detection module, which can provide a novel architecture for optimizing communication quality in HST scenarios in the future.
