Synchronized Dual-Pulse Self-Mode-Locked VECSELs

A synchronized dual-pulse self-mode-locked vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VECSELs) was demonstrated with the center wavelength of 984.2 nm, the pulse width of 890 fs and the output power of 2 W. The interval of the dual-pulse was 1 ns. In order to investigate the dynamic generation process of the synchronized dual-pulse, the time-stretched dispersive Fourier transform (DFT) technology was employed. Using it, the dual-pulse synchronization process from the establishment stage to the stabilization stage was detected and analyzed. Additionally, a stable single-pulse fundamental mode-locking state was characterized with a 416 MHz repetition rate, 1.2 ps pulse width, and an emission wavelength of 983.7 nm.
