Simple Delay and Channel-Aware Scheduling Method in Round-Trip Wireless Communication for Feedback Control

This paper investigates a delay and channel-aware scheduling method in round-trip wireless communication for feedback control. We propose a simple uplink (UL) and downlink (DL) scheduling method that achieves a high spectrum efficiency while preventing the round-trip delay (RTD) from exceeding the allowable maximum one as much as possible. The proposed method derives the optimal metric for round-trip communication by aiming to minimize the risk of transmission failure based on the expected delay time of candidate UEs. The proposed method is simple and realistic since it reduces the number of parameters to be carefully tuned compared to the conventional a-proportional fair round-trip multiple deadlines (AP-RMD) method. Computer simulation results reveal that the proposed method accommodates many UEs while guaranteeing the required maximum RTD under the limited system bandwidth with fewer parameter adjustments than AP-RMD.
