Use of Switched-Capacitor Circuit to Generate Negative Gate-Source Voltage Pulses

A gate driver circuit that can momentarily generate negative voltage pulses to suppress positive crosstalk voltage and allow large negative crosstalk is presented. The idea is based on using a switched-capacitor circuit to generate a negative voltage from positive voltage supply when the output of the gate driver is "LOW". The proposed circuit is simple and does not require additional control signals compared with conventional gate driver. Thus, it can be implemented in conventional gate driver easily. Its performance has been evaluated on a 2600W switching circuit and 1500W synchronous buck converter. The experimental results are in close agreement with the theoretical predictions.
