Applied Research on VR-Based Immersive Interactive Environment for Supporting Warehouse Management

The performance of warehouse management is a pivotal factor in the logistics industry, as warehouses are integral to supply chain management. With the advancement of information technology, numerous supply chain enterprises have integrated sophisticated algorithms to oversee the flow of goods, both outbound and inbound. However, the complexity of these algorithms often poses a challenge for warehouse managers, hindering their ability to grasp their workings fully, which can detrimentally affect operational efficiency. This study aims to bridge this knowledge gap by proposing an innovative solution: the creation of an immersive, interactive environment to enhance warehouse management performance. By leveraging a Virtual Reality (VR) environment, managers can visualize and interact with information, thereby deepening their understanding of storage scenarios and potentially enhancing their management capabilities. This research delves into the requirements for warehouse information systems and outlines the technical framework for VR development, drawing on a comprehensive literature review. A prototype for warehouse management has been developed, and its efficacy was evaluated through a design intervention study. The findings of this research offer valuable insights that can inform future endeavors in warehouse information system construction.
