Revolutionizing Anonymity: A DHT-Infused Rumor Riding Protocol for Advanced Sender and Receiver Privacy

Presented in this work is the file searching technique called DHT-RR (Distributed Hash Table with Rumor Riding), which was created to address the problems of maintaining sender and receiver anonymity while maximizing data propagation. The proposed DHT-RR overlay seamlessly integrates both unstructured and structured overlays based on ring structures, providing a robust foundation for reliable and efficient message dissemination in search operations. This unique hybrid overlay structure enhances scalability and operational efficiency compared to the traditional random walk approach in the RR (Rumor Riding) protocol, particularly as implemented in flooding techniques. Unlike the latter, which suffers from issues like network congestion, redundant transmissions, scalability constraints, limited Quality of Service, DHT-RR offers a more streamlined and effective solution. Furthermore, DHT-RR demonstrates superior performance in locating rare files when compared to Gnutella-like searching protocols. The protocol's innovative approach positions it as a promising solution for secure, scalable, and efficient file searching in distributed environments, overcoming the limitations of existing RR protocols.
