Compliance and Regulatory Challenges in Cloud-Based Healthcare Systems

Cloud adoption in the medical field enables hospitals and doctors to use sophisticated technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and big data analytics, as well as the Internet of Things (IoT), to facilitate containing and managing digital facilities for appropriate patient care, efficiency, and cost reduction. Although all these advantages exist, legal and data security challenges remain, especially in frameworks that include GDPR and HIPAA. In this paper, we propose a compliance framework built on top of Pega's AI-driven workflow automation to help navigate these complexities and promote healthcare secure cloud adoption. The paper makes key research contributions in identifying compliance barriers, integration of AI for regulatory adherence, and implementation guidelines for healthcare organizations adopting cloud-based solutions. This research outlines a roadmap for reconciling technological progress with compliance requirements to allow healthcare providers to employ cloud technology securely and effectively.
