Acoustic barrier with sound-absorbing cylindrical cap on upper edge

Based on finite element modeling in the COMSOL Multiphysics software suit, acoustic barriers with a sound-absorbing cylindrical cap with different angles of its installation on the upper edge of the barrier were investigated. Patterns of the sound pressure level distribution in the considered computational domain are given. The acoustic efficiency of caps in the computational domain in a wide frequency range is considered. Insertion losses were considered as efficiency indicators. In the computational domain, zones of maximum and minimum efficiency of each cap are determined. It is shown that the density of the sound-absorbing material in the cap has an insignificant effect on the acoustical effectiveness of the barrier.
