Design and Calculation of the Autonomous Hybrid Energy Complex in A Grid-Scale Hydrogen Energy Storage

The cost of producing hydrogen fuel via electrolysis is driven primarily by a single variable: the cost of electricity. Because electricity costs have the biggest impact on the financial viability of clean hydrogen, it is imperative that hydrogen electrolyzers consume as little electricity as possible. By producing high-efficiency clean hydrogen, in this research, a novel approach has been offered to seasonal energy storage. In this regard, hydrogen is obtained by electrolysis of water to store excess electricity generated in summers in the form of hydrogen, which in winters, it can be converted into electricity again in the building. This method allows us to cope with the problem of unsynchronous demand and supply of heat and cold, which consists in storing energy at times when energy generation exceeds demand. This method is based on the solar energy (combination pf solar energy in a Grid-Connected PV System (GCPVS) with electrochemistry-based hydrogen Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems) and has been tested in a house located in Russia. And the results shows that the system efficiency is up to 70% with respect to primary energy.
