Improvement of Range and Velocity Ambiguity Resolution for Multiple Targets in the Radar Sensor

Aiming at the problems such as slow operation velocity and serious false and missed alarm when employing conventional ambiguity resolutions for multiple targets in the radar sensor, this paper proposes an improved ambiguity resolution method. This method combines the advantages of table lookup and least square algorithm, thus reducing the calculation involved in sorting the possible values and resolving the mean square error. In addition, this method traverses the possible pulse repetition interval (PRI) combinations when matching multiple targets to reduce the missed alarm rate. Moreover, joint resolution of range and velocity ambiguity is employed to decrease the false alarm rate. Simulation experiment shows the proposed method is much faster than conventional methods with a lower missed alarm rate.
