Rated Power and Efficiency of Magnetoelectric Antenna Near-Field Coupling System

The mutual inductance method is proposed to evaluate the coupling inductance of the magnetoelectric (ME) antenna in the near-field power transfer system. It can be used to predict the transferred power and efficiency of the antenna system driven by the voltage source when the ME antenna works as transmitter and receiver in near-field coupling. In this letter, the frequency characteristics of rated power and transfer efficiency of the ME-coil coupling system under different load resistances are investigated by analyzing the impedance at the coil port of ME-coil coupling system. Due to the intrinsic static capacitance characteristics of the piezoelectric component, the system is non-reciprocal, when the ME antenna serves as transmitter, the system achieves a direct transfer efficiency of 65.9% and rated power of 11.7 mW driven by a 1 $\text{V}_{\text{rms}}$ voltage source at the frequency of 16.5 kHz. When the ME antenna acts as a receiver under the same conditions, the converse system reaches 29.1% and 0.6 mW. Our work can provide theoretical guidance for the application of ME antenna under different coupling conditions to achieve higher efficiency and power.
