Remote Monitoring and Stability Analysis of Embankment Slope

Mountainous highway subgrade slopes are often at risk from landslides, particularly, which occur in soft soils are common and destructive problem affecting construction of highway engineering. In this paper, the slope monitoring principle of inclination and water pressure is established. Based on data acquisition and transmission module and solar power supply device are integrated to form an economic, energy-saving and efficient single slope remote monitoring system. This monitoring system is applied in an embankment engineering, sited in Zemo Osiauri Section of the E-60 Highway, in Georgia. Based on the geological survey and remote monitoring data, a series of stability analysis are performed to give suggestions to design and construction of the slope supports.
