Smart Aquarium Management System Using Computer Vision and Image Recognition Technology

Keeping pets in the house is a very common activity being carried out by most of the modern society and aquarium setup remains the preferred activity of many. However, the task entails a lot of work concerning care and maintenance to ensure that it has a favorable aquatic environment. This includes such activities as regulation of temperature, maintenance of correct oxygen content, and pH balance. Overfeeding and detecting damage or stress in fish should be addressed. Some inherent challenges occur while attempting to monitor and control these parameters manually because their nature is time-variant. To overcome these challenges, an idea is conceived by using several sensors, a microcontroller, and a Wi-Fi module. It is because of this technological advancement that it becomes possible to integrate the monitoring and control, and thus allow aquarium owners to maintain their aquatic pets in an ideal situation. This, therefore, ensures that this program optimizes the maintenance activities and develops favorable circumstances deemed essential for the development and wellness of the aquatic life present.
