Performance Comparison of 4, 8 and 16-bit ALU in Different FPGA Boards

In this paper, we compare the design and implementation of 4, 8, and 16-bit Arithmetic Logic Units (ALUs) on ZYBO and BASYS3 FPGA boards. ALU is a critical component of microprocessors and programmable devices, responsible for conducting arithmetic and logic operations. Our study aims to evaluate the performance of the designed ALU on these two FPGA boards, focusing on factors such as power consumption, and hardware utilization. The modules were developed using VERILOG language in Xilinx Vivado software. By comparing the results obtained from both boards, this research aims to provide insights into optimizing ALU design for improved efficiency in various computing applications.
