Investigational Study on Creep Performance of Aluminum Alloy 6061-T6 Using Creep Indentation Test

The present study of aluminum alloy of an elastic deformation with respect to time at the stress and temperature has constant and variable examined. A major purpose of this study is to enhance the mechanical and physical properties of creep material for high-temperature applications. The prepared material has lightweight and high-strength usage. An impact changes in microstructure at the various stages of creep occurring in the composition of aluminum material with heat treatment. A specimen is prepared as per ASTM E139-06 standard and the creep indentation test is performed. A static tensile test is performed with different heat treatments of materials. The surface morphology of the materials is captured using scanning electron microscopy. From an experimental result, it has been observed the rate of creep strain increased/decreased with respect to temperature range increasing gradually at a limit of maximum. It was observed the temperature at 200 oC, creep strain rate has been found constantly. Further than the predetermined limit (200 oC, 100 MPa) the sample was fractured at the rate of creep strain and temperature/load has been increased. Eventually, an enhanced material life of creep was observed that the temperature and stress at 200 oC and 100 MPa respectively. It was observed that the material of ultimate stress and hardness values was obtained.
