Development of High-Efficient 3.7 kW 5 Level T-Type Inverter based Wireless EV Charging System

This paper presents the development and analysis of a high-efficiency 3.7 kW five-level T-type inverter designed for wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging applications. With a growing focus on sustainable energy solutions, the integration of photovoltaic (PV) systems into EV charging infrastructure has garnered significant interest among researchers. The proposed 3.7 kW five-level T-type inverter-based system facilitates the seamless integration of renewable energy sources, such as solar PV, while achieving high efficiency by minimizing switching losses typically associated with inverter operation. The charging system incorporates a series-series (S-S) compensation topology to ensure high power transfer efficiency and maintain stable performance under dynamic load conditions. A circular coil, specifically designed for this application, was analyzed using ANSYS Maxwell simulation to validate its theoretical characteristics. The system operates at a resonant frequency of 85 kHz, adhering to the SAE J2954 standard, and is optimized for a 3.7 kW power output. To evaluate its theoretical performance, the proposed system was simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink platform. Additionally, a 3.7 kW laboratory prototype was developed and tested experimentally. The results demonstrate the system's effectiveness and reliability, confirming its suitability for wireless EV charging applications.
